INDEPENDENT SAFETY ASSESSMENT
Common framework for the assessment and demonstration of security
The European Railway Safety Directive (EU) 2016/798 and the Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 402/2013 (updated by the Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1136) establish the Common Method of Safety for the Evaluation and Assessment of Risk in order to maintain and ensure railway system safety.
The CENELEC regulations establish a safety process that must be followed when developing or modifying railway systems:
EN 50126.
Railway Applications: Specification and demonstration of reliability, availability, maintainability and security (RAMS). Part 1: Generic RAMS Processes and Part 2: Systematic Approach to Security.
EN 50128.
Railway applications: Communication, signaling and processing systems. Software for railway control and protection systems.
EN 50657.
Railway applications: Rolling stock applications. Software on board the rolling stock (Ratified by the Spanish Association for Standardization in September 2017.)
EN 50129.
Railway applications: Communication, signaling and processing systems. Electronic systems related to safety for signaling.
