Because of its sustainability and low environmental impact, the railway sector is one of the main pillars of Spain's mobility plan for 2030. As a result, the goal of this mobility plan is to make the train as competitive as other alternatives of transportation by increasing rail connections and improving customer service.
However, because it is one of the most expensive public transport alternatives for users, it is essential that the service continues to improve in terms of price and user experience, in order to increase its use and reduce all transport emissions by 90 % by 2050.
The main challenge for the rail sector is to enhance its competitive advantage over alternative means of transport with a greater environmental impact, while maintaining the benefits of safety, sustainability and comfort.
